Chibebräu Wine update
Do you get the above cartoon? I don't. Maybe it's because I'm not a wine guy. But I'm trying, honestly. And that's why I started Chibebräu Wine. I've already reviewed two wines in this young year, and if you know something about wine I invite you to comment so I can (hopefully) learn a thing or two. If you don't know anything about wine, I invite you to comment so I can realize I'm not the only moron. I can't imagine I'll ever be as passionate about wine as I am about beer, but a little knowledge can't hurt, right?

Nope. I got nothin'.
The only thing I can think of is he doesn't understand how wine ages, so he thinks it will take a really long time before it tastes good. I imagine the cartoon will become even less fun as the years pass. :)
Is it because white rhinos are expected to be extinct by 2025? Still not funny.
It is because most beverages, including some premium beers that have born on dating, are "not good after".
Because it is wine, and intended to age before being drank, it is "not good until". many of the wine snobs think that certain wines should not be drank until xx years after bottling.
I am very proud of my fellow beer drinkers for NOT getting the joke, and very disappointed in myself FOR getting it.
But I do agree, not funny.

I think Erik might have figured it out. Oh, and I just want to clarify that I wasn't trying to give the cartoonist a hard time. In fact, I even decided to shell out a few hard-earned bucks to officially purchase the right to post the cartoon on my blog. I may not understand it, but I'm guessing it's hard to make a living as a cartoonist so I figured I'd contribute to the cause. And for the record, the first cartoon at this site http://www.pioneer.net/~mchumor/wine1_bframe.html is much funnier than the one I posted.

I admire you for thinking of the cartoonist. I would also hope that he would be proud that his cartoon sparked such a lively conversation.

hmmm, i don't know. MOST white wines are meant to be drank within the first 1-2 years of being made and do not age well at all. there of course are a few exceptions though. i'm a huge fan of beer, but just as much of a fan of wine (know it quite well) but don't get the joke either. sorry!
