Any day now...
As you can see, our bottles of Dunkelweizen--to be handed out upon the birth of our son--are labeled and ready to rock. All that's left is for the baby to cooperate and get his little fanny out here. Sure, the due date is still three days away, but Leah and I are ready to get the show on the road. As a bit of a joke, we've been trying out one old wives' tale every night since Friday night to try to induce labor. After all, eventually the kid will be born and we'll prove one of these superstitions correct, right? Friday night we had a spicy chicken salad for dinner. Saturday night it was eggplant parmesan. Sunday night it was pizza with giardiniera. Last night it was Mexican food (tacos, to be specific). Tonight it was Greek (gyros). If we can't come up with anything better for tomorrow, I'm getting Leah a Snickers bar (I believe my great aunt told me that one). So, if anybody else has a suggestion for something that's supposed to induce labor, feel free to post it. In the meantime, please keep us in your prayers as we get ready to welcome a new future brewer into the world... and Leah gets ready to drink beer again!

Again, Congratulations and good luck! I think Leah should try drinking half a homebrew to induce labor. It will relax her, and maybe give the kid a sign that it's time to get out! I can't imagine a tiny amount of alcohol this late in the pregnancy would be harmful to Baby Chibes. Leah will probably metabolize it before it even gets to the kid.
Señor-
As I noted in our last Chibebräu Wine post, we're well aware of the scientific evidence that extremely moderate alcoholic consumption does not pose a danger to an unborn child, so we'll definitely keep the suggestion in mind. We went with Chinese tonight, so if that doesn't work it may be Munich Helles tomorrow!
All this talk about pregnancy and beer, poppycock, my friends. People have been drinking beer, lots of beer, for centuries without worry. Smoking, too, for that matter. Good luck to Leah and be sure not to save any weizen, it would be bad luck!
I'm guessing the Helles worked. We haven't heard from Russ in days!
Sadly, Señor, you are incorrecto. We're still waiting. Last night we got Italian beef from Portillo's--our last meal before our daughter was born--so we'll see if we can recapture that magic.
